Lakeshore Thunder
Lakeshore Thunder is an affiliate travel baseball program of LYBSA. Thunder teams are managed outside of LYBSA, but are overseen by an affiliate committee consisting of LYBSA Board Members. Thunder provides the ability for baseball players to experience the next step in their baseball journey!
Ages
For the 2024 season, Thunder will have teams consisting of the following age groups. Based on numbers, there may be more then one team per age group.
- 8U
- 9U
- 10U
- 11U
- 12U
- 13U
- 14U
When
Travel baseball teams are formed in late summer, shortly after tryouts. Some teams may elect to play in some fall/winter tournaments. Indoor practices will start in late fall or winter. The official season begins in April and will continue through July, possibly into August.
Where
Indoor practices will be held at the LYBSA Indoor Facility or another location if a team elects to hold supplemental winter practices elsewhere.
Outdoor practices will be held at LYBSA (Wednesday's only during rec season).

Extra Costs
Managers decide the cost of the season on a per team basis. Managers attempt to forecast the cost of uniforms, equipment and tournament fees for the season. Teams might also use sponsor funds and/or fundraising funds to offset the cost of player fees or tournament fees. There are dues owed to LYBSA if a player does not participate in our recreational league that must be paid before a player will be rostered on an affiliate team.
Out of District Affiliate Membership:
Out of district affiliate membership is for those whom play on LYBSA affiliate travel teams (Thunder or Pirates) who do not participate in an offered LYBSA Rec program. The Affiliated player Membership provides funding to LYBSA to help maintain facilities and equipment. If you previously registered for tryouts and now need to pay the Out of District Affiliate fee, click on REGISTER. You will see that your player is listed as already registered. Click on their name and fill out the form. When you get to the last page select Out of District Affiliate Membership and pay the fee.
Senior Affiliate Membership:
Only available for players for whom LYBSA does not offer a recreational program for whom participate on a LYBSA Affiliate travel team (Thunder or Pirates). Typically only those in 14U divisions and above. Players who LYBSA offers a recreational program for who do not plan on participating in the LYBSA recreational program must register in Out of District Affiliate Membership. If you previously registered for tryouts and now need to pay the Senior Affiliate fee, click on REGISTER. You will see that your player is listed as already registered. Click on their name and fill out the form. When you get to the last page select Senior Affiliate Membership and pay the fee. If you do not see Senior Affiliate as an option, your player is not old enough to register for Senior Affiliate and will need to register and pay the Out of District Affiliate Membership fee because LYBSA offers a recreational program for their age.

Tryouts:
Registering for tryouts does not mean your player will make the team. Final team rosters will be set by the individual team managers.
Out of District Affiliate Membership:
Dues owed to LYBSA by players who opt to not participate in our recreation league. Players must register and pay for this membership before being rostered on an affiliate team.
